Will of Ann Bailey, written 1822, proved 1823

This is the last Will and Testament of me Ann Bailey of Ashwell in the County of Hertford Widow First I give and devise unto my son James Bailey his Heirs and Assigns for ever All that Cottage Tenement or Dwelling House consisting of two Rooms on the Ground floor now in the Occupation of Joseph Jarman and two Rooms over the same now in my own Occupation together with the lower Barn and the South part of the Garden which said Premises are situate in Mill Street in Ashwell aforesaid And I give and devise unto my Daughter Alice Bailey her Heirs and Assigns for ever All that Cottage Tenement or Dwelling House consisting of two Rooms in front on the Ground floor now in my own Occupation and two Rooms over the same now in the Occupation of the said Joseph Jarman together with the upper Barn and the North part of the Garden as the same is divided by a foot path from the South part and which last mentioned Premises are situate in Mill Street in Ashwell aforesaid And (subject and charged as hereinafter mentioned) I give and devise unto my Son Peter Bailey his Heirs and Assigns for ever All that Cottage Tenement or Dwelling House fronting Gardners Lane in Ashwell aforesaid towards the West now in the Occupation of William Worboys and a piece of Garden Ground lying behind the same now in the several Occupations of myself and the said William Worboys and which is divided by a Quick Hedge from the Premises hereinbefore severally devised to my Son James and Daughter Alice and their Heirs respectively Subject and charged with the payment of the sum of five Pounds apiece to my Daughters Sarah Savage and Mary Briant which I do hereby give and bequeath to them to be paid by my said Son Peter Bailey at the end of one Year next after my decease And I give to my said Daughter Alice Bailey the Use of all my Beds Linen and Household Furniture for the Term of her Life and after her decease I give and bequeath all the said Beds Linen and Household Furniture in manner following that is to say; one fourth part to my Son Peter, one other fourth part to the three Children of my late Daughter Elizabeth, one other fourth part to the four Children of my late Son Henry, and the remaining fourth part to the three Children of my late Daughter Isabella. And I give to my said Daughter Alice all my ready Money Stocks of Bees and other Personal Estate for her own absolute Use, she thereout paying my Funeral and Testamentary Expences And I nominate and appoint my Son Peter Bailey and my Daughter Alice Executors of this my Will and hereby revoking all former Wills and Codicils I do declare this to be my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand this seventeenth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty two.

Peter Bailey and Alice Bailey the Executors within named were sworn duly to execute the within Will And that the Effects of the deceased are under the value off Twenty pounds
