I James Bailey of Ashwell in the County of Hertford do make this my last Will
& Testament this Thirteenth Day of January 1842 - That is to say, I given
and bequeath to my daughter Mary Bailey her Heirs and Assigns for ever All that
Freehold Cottage lately built by me, and not yet fitted up, situated & being
in that part of the Village of Ashwell called Hodwell. I also leave to my said
daughter Mary Bailey all the rest of my Freehold Property consisting of two
Cottages occupied by myself, & Edward Birch, situated, & being in the
High Street of Ashwell, also two Cottages in Hodwell in the occupation of
William Bryant & Edward Smith, also that cottage occupied by Adam Burr near
the Pond at Ashwell, & also that cottage in the Mill Street Ashwell occupied
by Obin Strickland, in trust, that she the said Mary Bailey shall as soon as
conveniently may be sell the same in such way, as she shall think likely to
produce most money, & after having paid all my debts, & Funeral Expences
to divide & give the said produce to my four daughters Elizabeth wife of
William Flint, Alice Wife of Edward Birch, & Sarah wife of Obin Strickland,
& the remaining forth part to retain for her the said Mary Bailey's own use.
And I also give & bequeath to my said daughter Mary Bailey so much of my
Household Furniture, Plate Linen & China, as she shall think necessary for
her use, & the remainder of the Furniture to sell, & the proceeds
thereof to be divided between her three sisters aforesaid namely Elizabeth Flint
Alice Birch & Sarah Strickland. And I hereby nominate & appoint Mary
Bailey my sole Executrix to this my last Will & Testament.

duly to execute the within Will and that the effects of the said deceased are
under the value of £50.
