Will of Mary Bray, 1833

This is the last Will and Testament of me Mary Bray of Ashwell in the County of Hertford Widow. First I give and devise unto my Son William Bray his Heiors and Assigns for ever All that piece or parcel of Arable Land containing by estimation one acre situate in Ashwell aforesaid. And I give and devise unto my Daughter Cybyll Garratt her Heirs and Assigns for ever All that Cottage or Tenement situate in Ashwell aforesaid in which she now lives with the piece of Garden Ground and Barn now occupied therewith and use of the Well but subject and chargeable to and with the payment of the sum of five pounds apiece to my two Daughters Isabella Jarman and Eliza Scales which I do hereby give and bequeath to them to be paid by my said Daughter Cybyll within six Months next after my decease And I give and devise unto my Son Abel Bray his Heirs and Assigns for ever All that Cottage or Tenement Barn and Garden Ground with the Appurtenances situate in Ashwell aforesaid in which I and my said Son Abel now reside together with the the use of the said Well subject and charged to and with the payment of the sum of fifteen Pounds apiece to my said two Daughters Isabella Jarman and Eliza Scales and also of the sum of five Pounds to my said son William Bray which I do hereby give and bequeath to them to be paid by my said Son Abel Bray out of the said last mentioned Premises within six Months next after my decease And subject to the payment of my just Debts and Funeral and Testamentary Expences which I do hereby charge on my Real Estate hereinbefore devised in aid of my Personal Estate I give and bequeath all my ready Money Household Furniture Cattle Goods Chattels and Personal Estate unto my said Sons and Daughters equally to be divided between them share and share alike. And I nominate and appoint Edward Fordham the Elder of Odsey and Edward Fordham the Younger Gentleman Executors of this my Will and hereby revoking all former Wills I declare this to be my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I the said Mary Bray have hereunto set my Hand and Seal this eighth day of July in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty three.

Signed sealed published and declared by the said Mary Bray the Testatrix as and for her last Will and Testament in the presence of us who at her request and in her presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names and Witnesses thereto,

Edward Fordham the older, one of the Executors within named was sworn duly to execute the within Will and that the effects of the deceased are under the value of Fifty Pounds, Power being reserved to make the like grant to Edwd Fordham the younger, the other Executor &c when he shall apply for the same.
