Family History - Turner

Although this page is titled "Turner", I have relatively little information on the Turners, apart from having traced them back to North Walsham in Norfolk.  This branch also includes a number of Dyes.  The Ward family hails from Spratton in Northamptonshire, but again the trail goes cold after a couple of generations; Marianne LeButt (see below) has, however, done a lot of work on the Wright ancestry in the area.

On the maternal side, the bulk of this branch are Greens and Gibsons, largely due to families of 12 and 13 children in successive generations.  These families are mostly from London, although "Uncle Ernie" (Ernest Frederick Green) was apparently shown to have Scots ancestry to get him into the London Scottish Regiment in the 1914-18 War.  He died at Ypres and is commemorated on the Menin Gate.

A good deal of the early part of the tree is due to Arthur Gibson (1833-1911) (see right), who drew up a family tree and kept a diary in the 19th century.
